Stop for a minute and think about your loyal customers. Every company is going to have them, and I’m sure you have yours. The smaller a business is the more likely you’re really going to know who those loyal customers are, too.
Now that you’re thinking about it, ask yourself what kind of priority you give to those loyal customers? I know of plenty of small stores I shop at on a regular basis where I know the owner by name. There are all kinds of perks that comes with being a loyal customer. They’re willing to hold items for me if I need them to or notify me when something I’ve been looking for comes in.
When I walk into those stores I know that I’m going to get great service because they know I’m going to keep giving them good business. The same is likely true of your loyal customers, which is why they’re so loyal.
So ask yourself, how loyal are you to the printer you do business with? When it comes time to get your commercial color printing taken care of do you go to the same printer or do you try to shop the job around for the lowest price?
Quite often businesses adhere to the latter of the two. Rather than stick with a printer they attempt to save money each time by getting all the price quotes. While it might seem like this will save you the most money, odds are you’re losing other benefits by doing so.
A printing company isn’t any different than any other company. They like loyal customers and they are going to go out of their way to help their loyal customers. Quite often there’s more to a company than just the price they offer.
What makes this even more important is that printing can be a very complicated process. Knowing what kinds of printing methods to use, the right kind of paper stock, and any other number of things are necessary to make your commercial color printing looks its best. When you have a good relationship with a printing company you can take the time to ask them which printing method is going to be best to use.
The person who handles your printing plays an important role in making sure your advertisements look the best. Getting back a brochure and realizing it looks nothing like what you wanted is going to set back your marketing by forcing you to find a new printer and correcting the problem. If you know a printer is good at what they do and gives you exactly what you’re looking for, why wouldn’t you keep doing business with them?
Too often companies let the notion of a better deal blind them to the convenience of having a good relationship with specific printers. This is an important job you’re giving them. Wouldn’t you rather know you’re going to get a quality product in return than go to the hassle of constantly changing printers? You like your loyal customers, so why don’t you try being on the other end of it and be loyal yourself.
